European Trip 40

Today's images are all from the old town in Prague, starting with another shot on the Charles Bridge (Karluv Most). Apparently, toughing the base of this statue gives you good luck, or makes your wish come true, or something like that. Hence, the parts that are glittering are those that are touched so often that they never accumulate much dirt.

I think this was a fancy hotel, but what caught my eye (and those of the others standing around in front) were the statues and reliefs surrounding the entrance.

Here's another fancy front. I think V.J. Rott was a store of some kind, and the artwork on the facade dates back to the late 19th century.

Here's a view coming intot he old town square, where dozens of vendors were set up to sell their wares during Easter week celebrations.

This is the famous astronomical clock in the old town hall, where we waited to see the top of the hour, when...

... the Apostles proceeded to pop up in the little windows above the clock. There's a story about the creator of this clock sabotaging it after he went blind, or something to that effect-- I only caught bits of the story told by our tour guide (Ben, do you remember?)
