So much of what passes for mainstream country music today seems like nothing more than pop with a little twang. But the Delmore Brothers were the real thing-- part of a heritage of harmonizing brother acts from the thirties and forties (the Dixons, the Allens, the Monroes, the Louvins, the Stanleys, etc.) that really sounded like they hailed from the hills, and were singing songs their grandparents taught them (whether that was literally true or not).
