More shots today from our bus tour of Berlin. Above is the old Prussian castle in Charlottenburg. I was hoping to get back here later to look it over more closely, but didn't get a chance to do so. Maybe next trip.
This is the residence of the mayor of Berlin, and the flag flying over the front door indicates that the mayor was at home. We thought we might see him plod out in slippers and robe to pick up his newspaper, but no such luck.
Very close to the mayor's residence is this theater colloquially referred to as the Clam's Shell.
Above you see the newest train station in Berlin. The next day we went back to check out the inside, and I'll post some of those pictures in the next few days.
The bus stopped for a break at the Holocaust Memorial, which you can see above. It's composed of numerous concrete blocks, and it's pretty impressive as you walk around amidst the blocks.
While we were walking over to Kamp's for a snack across the street from the Holocaust Memorial, we heard sirens and looked up to see a presidential motorcade coming up the street. Our guide Kevin confirmed that it was indeed the German President Horst Kohler in the tailing car, probably headed to some big meeting. Kind of an unexpected bonus to the tour.

John, could you comment a little more on that Holocaust Memorial. Concrete blocks seem a peculiar way to commemorate the Holocaust. I am really enjoying this tour of Berlin. Mom
