Here are a few more shots from our second morning in Berlin. Above is what we took to be the Jewish Museum. We didn't actually go in, just stumbled across it while walking around in the neighborhood just north of Checkpoint Charlie.
I think this is just an apartment building in old East Berlin. It's notable as an example of how the old and new are combined, though not usually in the same building as seen here. Evidently a portion of the old section was destroyed (possibly bombed during the war) and so a new section was just grafted on.
Here's another weird architectural sight: this one looks like the oval portion was just dropped onto a relatively normal box-like office building. In fact, it almost looks like a stiff wind would blow it off it's perch.
As one might see in New York, there's a lot of glass in the newer commercial buildings. I like how you can see practically the whole block from across the street reflected in these windows.
Following our walk, we headed back to the bus for our guided tour of the city (pictures tomorrow). This row of panels gives an overview history of the Wall, which originally stood just a few feet away.
