Ben and I arrived in Berlin last Friday morning after spending the better part of the previous afternoon, evening and night in the air or waiting in airports. Here are a few shots of the airport in Berlin, where we ended up waiting another four hours for the rest of our party to arrive.
Here's a shot of the terminal where we met up with our tour guide Ivan, but then discovered the rest of the group missed a connection and were going to be at least a couple of hours late. Unfortunately, our hotel was way over on the extreme opposite end of the city (a very big city by the way), so it wasn't practical for the bus to make a run out there just for the two of us. So we waited and I had my first Fanta Orange Soda (which became my drink of choice for the duration).
Ivan turned out to be a pretty interesting guy, a filmmaker who also works in an art gallery in addition to guiding a couple tours each year. When he went out to notify the bus driver about the delay, Ben and I walked around outside the terminal a bit and snapped a few more shots. These are more in the category of "killing time" than anything else, but it's all we had to do until the rest of our party arrived.
Please believe me when I tell you that the pictures will get more interesting over the next week or so (I'll probably post a set a day for at least the next couple of weeks, with a couple days off for more upcoming travel). But this is a nice shot of the air traffic tower, isn't it?
Here's Ben keeping a sharp eye out for anything to relieve the tedium. Luckily, this was the last part of the trip when we could actually say we were bored (tired is another story).
