You might've noticed no postings here yesterday. That was because I was trying to cram as much as possible into my last couple of days in Western New York. A good chunk of my time was spent at the Buffalo Zoo with Sally, Natalie, Ben, Nik, Helen, Emma, plus a cast of dozens of animals (not to mention the other zoo-goers). It was a really nice day, if a bit hot, but here are some pictures:
Above is a peacock enamored of his (her?) own reflection in the window. Unfortunately, he didn't get so excited that he strutted his stuff, so no big feather show for us.
The big new exhibit at the zoo is a simulated rainforest. I don't remember what kind of bird that is above, but apparently it's native habitat is the rainforest.
Emma was particularly taken with a really big dispaly of rabbits. This little guy stood still long enough for me to get a shot.
After leaving the reptile house, Natalie and Ben pressed their case with their mom fo a new pet snake. She was not convinced. I'm not sure where Helen stood on the issue.

Dr John,
Thanks for the photos of the zoo. To set a couple things straight the peacock is a him since the peahen's are usually just dowdy sort of looking. The male is the one with the huge display of feathers. And though I was not there I think the bird shown is from the spoonbill family of birds (don't know if there are more than one variety but keeping the options open =)
Lil' Sis
PS have a safe journey back west
mom was saying she wouldn't stop us from the snake[after all we wated one for a long time]she said she wouldn't mind it put dad would, we will hopefully get it by next year:D
