Tuesday's Quote of the Day

Thucydides is widely acknowledged as one of the creators of history as a discipline (generally considered second only to Herodotus), and his reputation is based on his accounts of the Peloponnesian Wars of the fifth century B.C., in which he participated as an Athenian soldier. So he came by this particular insight through experience:

"The nation that makes a great distinction
between its scholars and its warriors will
have its thinking done by cowards and
its fighting done by fools."
