The Kinks never seemed to get the same attention, at least from mainstream critics, as the Beatles or Rolling Stones or Who, but they were equally great exponents of classic British rock. But this song is as good as anything any of those bands put out in their heydays, and it hardly stands alone in the Kinks catalog of great tunes:
