Thought for the Day

Today's quotation comes from the renowned Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906). Ibsen was among the fathers of modernism, certainly with respect to theater, though this particular statement reflects a much more ancient reality:

"Money may be the husk of many things, but not
the kernel. It brings you food, but not appetite;
medicine, but not health; acquaintances, but not
friends; servants, but not loyalty; days of joy,
but not peace nor happiness."
