Thursday's Quote

French philosopher Jean Baudrillard (1929-2007) was one of the keenest commentators on contemporary life, with special attention to the illusions shaped by contemporary media and technology. Here's a sample of the kind of things he noticed:

"There is nothing more mysterious than a TV set
left on in an empty room. It is even stranger
than a man talking to himself or a woman
standing dreaming at her stove. It is as if
another planet is communicating with you."
