Here's a clip from another of the movies Marc Webb borrowed from in putting together (500) Days of Summer. In fact, if you've seen that film, you'll likely immediately recognize its use of the same plot element on display here. Bill Forsyth (the director of Gregory's Girl) has apparently, and sadly, stopped making movies. He had an uncommonly deft touch for depicting how people overcome their loneliness to reconnect with others of the species. In addition to Gregory's Girl, you'd be rewarded by taking a look at some of his other work, including That Sinking Feeling, Local Hero, Housekeeping, and Comfort and Joy. In the meantime, here's a little taste of what he did so well:
