Since I have access to my Mom's photos while I'm visiting her, I thought I would post some earlier generations than usually make an appearance in these regular Friday postings. So here's one of my maternal Grandmother, from about 1973, with her Budgie:
In a shot that I'm sure was taken the same day, here's Great Aunt Helen (and if you look closely, Budgie makes a reappearance):
Last, here's one that goes back a bit farther (I'm guessing from the 1940s, of Gramma on the back porch with Grampa:
Maybe Mom has some story behind this picture that she can share in comments?

Dr John,
I like the photo of grandma and grandpa, but I do wonder about that shoe on the porch =)
Lil' Sis
The picture dates from 1936 or 1937
Mother and Dad bought that house then and there were many changes to the house every year after that including adding a second story to the back of the house and digging a cellar under the house. The back porch was improved by adding a lattice and planting morning glories all around. Can't explain the shoe, Liz, Certainly Mother did not approve of it laying there. I remember a gorgeous Japanese quince bush right beside the porch. Every spring it burst forth in a beautiful shade of deep pink. I tried for years to make slips from it blossom but never succeeded. And where is Dad's cigarette? Almost every picture we had of him, he had one either hanging in his lips or in his fingers. Mom
