Friday's Philosophy

Epicurus was a philosopher in ancient Greece (third century BC) who saw the goal of philosophy as a happy, tranquil life surrounded by friends and marked by a freedom from fear or want, That doesn't mean that he considered that sort of existence a given, as seen in this insightful quote:

"The flesh endures the storms of the
present alone; the mind, those of
the past as well as all of the future."
