Record Shelf Playlists

Dr. John's Record Shelf is my weekly radio program on KDWG, 90.9 FM broadcast from the University of Montana Western. My goal is to offer an eclectic mix of various styles, genres and eras, focusing primarily (but not exclusively) on music that you won't hear anywhere else on the dial (at least not in SW Montana). My co-host, Art Vandelay and I (with the assistance of station flunky Rico Muckman) also provide some additional bits to liven up the show, including Three People I Know (where I mention three people I know), The Cultural Corner (where we engage in lively banter on art, literature and poetry), Dr. John's Top Five (where we take a shot at ranking almost anything), and Record Shelf Theater (where we re-create a scene from some famous movie, play or TV show). A Musical Favorite

This song may be my favorite by Luna, a band that is unfortunately defunct (though leader Dean Wareham continues to record with Britta Phillips, seen here on bass). Wareham recently published a memoir, which I got as a Christmas present and has finally risen to second spot on my current reading list (behind the Jon Clinch novel Finn, which I started a couple nights ago), so I'll likely have a review here in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the song. This was apparently the opening tune of a concert video, so you'll see some credits interspersed-- don't let that throw you:
