Heroes of the Airwaves

This clip goes back almost twenty years before I was born. It was close to another twenty years after the latter event that I first discovered Fibber McGee & Molly, but I've been a fan ever since. This is just a portion of a program, but you get a good idea of what their particular brand of humor was like. Fibber, as his name implied, was given to telling whoppers, and he had a real flair for exaggeration; Molly was more down-to-earth. They were regularly visited by a string of friends and neighbors including Doc Gamble (voiced by Arthur Q. Bryan, who also played Elmer Fudd in teh Warner Brothers cartoons), Wallace Wimple, Mayor LaTrivia (Gale Gordon, later Lucille Ball's long-time foil), the Old-Timer, Teeny, and [The Great] Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve (who spun off into his own longlasting series).
