Friday Philosophy

Will Durant (1885-1981), along with his wife Ariel, kind of wrote the book on philosophy, at least as far as Americans were concerned. Here's something he said that strikes me as very relevant to contemporary discussions about the role of government:

"If man asks for many laws it is only because
he is sure that his neighbor needs them;
privately he is an unphilosophical anarchist,
and thinks laws in his own case superfluous."
