Thursday's Thought for the Day

H.L. Mencken was a journalistic giant in the first half of the twentieth century. He was also, and not surprisingly given his profession, an astute commentator on the American character. Here's a little something he wrote in 1931:

"But the whole thing, after all, may be put very
simply. I believe that it is better to tell the truth
than to lie. I believe that it is better to be free
than to be a slave. And I believe that it is better
to know than to be ignorant."
