The Fate of Journalism

I've previously posted some comments and links related to the seemingly rapid transition journalism is undergoing at the moment (especially with respect to newspapers). Frank Rich, takes on the subject today in his New York Times column, and it's worth a read if you are as interested in the topic as I am.

Newspapers and magazines, too, have changed enormously over the years and it does not surprize me that the traditional print media is vanishing. We subscribed to The Saturday Evening Post when I was a child, and we loved that magazine for its stories and articles. Cover to cover it was worth reading. I picked up a copy of it a few weeks ago and it was a little bit like reading a medical journal with all the advertising for pills and medications. The few articles all seemed to have something to say about our health.
It was one big disappointment. Even the jokes were mainly about old folks and their doctors. It will be interesting to see what evolves as the years go on . Mom

And it doesn't do any good to complain to the editors either. They just thank you for your comments and tell you that they are responding to what their readers want. When will they get the message right????? Mom
