I went to see Alejandro Escovedo tonight (more on that tomorrow), and the opening act was Tift Merritt and band. I've heard a couple of her records, but they don't do justice to her live show, which kind of rocked (maybe she was inspired being on the same bill as Escovedo). Anyway, here's an example of her work from a couple years ago:
