New Hal Crowther Column

As I've mentioned several times here in the past, Hal Crowther is about my favorite commentator on the current cultural scene. Unfortunately, his columns seem only to appear about once every three or four months in the Durham Independent. I've found him especially sharp on issues related to journalism and the slow deterioration of that noble profession in recent years, less because of a lack of quality reporters than the loss of readers to television demagogues and internet poseurs (not that all of them are demagogues or poseurs-- but c'mon, Glenn Beck?) that has left the print business on shaky grounds. His latest column is again on that topic, prompted by a recent biography of the late Molly Ivins (who was a friend and former classmate of Crowther's). I think it's worth a read.
