A Quote for Friday

Here are some words of wisdom from the great Roman thinker and orator Cicero (106-43 BC):

"Everyone has the obligation to ponder well
his own specific traits of character. He must
also regulate them adequately and not wonder
whether someone else's traits might suit him
better. The more definitely his own a man's
character is, the better it fits him."

When I was a sophomore in high school we translated Cicero's four orations against Catiline and I was hooked on Latin. Too bad we don't have a Cicero today to rail against the abuses in our Senate. Mom
