Italian Wedding Soup is one of those varieties that I generally avoid. There's something about the idea of meatballs in what seems to be-- I'm not certain that it is-- chicken broth that just feels wrong. I mean, the stuff looks funny. But it was the best option at a restaurant I visited a couple days ago, so I took the plunge. It wasn't too bad, though rather bland. I don't usually add anything to soup, but this time I was reaching for the salt and pepper. Do they really serve this stuff at weddings? Is it one of those deals (like ugly bridesmaids' dresses) where the idea is not to distract anyone from the bride on her special day? I don't know, but as far as soups goes, this is nearer the bottom than the top of my list.
