Friday Philosophy

Francesco Petrarca, better known as Petrarch (1304-1374), was an Italian scholar and poet. He was also one of the individuals associated with the earliest stages of the Renaissance. Here's one of his well-known quotes:

"Five great enemies to peace inhabit with us:
viz., avarice, ambition, envy, anger and pride.
If those enemies were to be banished, we
should infallibly enjoy perpetual peace."
