Record Shelf Playlists

Dr. John's Record Shelf is my weekly radio program on KDWG, 90.9 FM broadcast from the University of Montana Western. My goal is to offer an eclectic mix of various styles, genres and eras, focusing primarily (but not exclusively) on music that you won't hear anywhere else on the dial (at least not in SW Montana). My co-host, Art Vandelay and I (with the assistance of station flunky Rico Muckman) also provide some additional bits to liven up the show, including Three People I Know (where I mention three people I know), The Cultural Corner (where we engage in lively banter on art, literature and poetry), Dr. John's Top Five (where we take a shot at ranking almost anything), and Record Shelf Theater (where we re-create a scene from some famous movie, play or TV show). New Year's Video

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess I'm not the only one in the blogosphere posting a video of this song today, but when something fits, it fits. Besides, this is my sister Theresa's favorite band, so I know at least one of my readers will enjoy this early clip from U2:

T said...: LOL Liz... I don't know what happened to that towel... funny since I cared for that thing like some holy relic for years!

Police are definitely right up there but U2 has been number one with me for a very long time. I remember watching MTV in Carolynn's living room and seeing the video for 'New Years Day' for the first time, I think it was the first time I every heard of U2 and I was hooked from then. They were riding horses in the snow and it seemed to fit perfectly somehow.
