Midweek Geography Quiz

Okay, let's see if I can't spark a little more interactivity around here. This is a photo I took almost 25 years ago in a place I imagine most of you have heard of. Can anyone guess where? Be as specific as possible, and put your answers in the comments section.

Is that the Rock River in Illinois?
I remember walking in the woods with Sally and she knew the names of all the wild flowers and plants out there. Sure was a beautiful spot. Mom

Mom,
Good guess, but no. Feel free to try again.

Maybe the Alleghany River down in Cook's Forest, Pennsylvania. Mom

Okay - How about the Niagara River right here at home? Seems to me there are some woods out there on the way to Lewiston. Mom
By the way - was I ever at this place? It sure looks familiar.

Could it be Yellowstone? Near the Geysers?

If that doesn't work how about Mt Rushmore?

You got it! This is the forest adjacent to the entrance to Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills. If you hadn't guessed it, I was going to give a hint that the climax to a famous Hitchcock film was shot nearby (or, anyway it was shot in a studio made up to look like Mount Rushmore). Do you know what the film was?
