There were a lot of cartoon cats and cartoon mice, and sometimes they appeared in the same shows. I always preferred Herman and Katnip to Tom and Jerry, though I'd be hardpressed to say why (was it because Herman reminded me of Leo Gorcey from the Bowery Boys? Maybe).
