New York City

Here are a couple pictures I took the last time I was in New York City, views of the skyline from the Empire State Building. As you can probably tell, these actually did not turn out that great, but I've tried to rescue them a bit by converting them to black and white, and applying a couple of artistic effects. What do you think, was I successful in making them at least presentable?

I like the one with all the lights, looking toward - is that the East River??? I'd like to see what the original picture looked like so we could really compare them. And while I'm at it, John, it would be nice if you showed us the original picture in your Family blog puzzles. Mom

The original of this photo (yes, that's the East River-- the view is looking NE from the Empire State Building, with the Chrysler Building in the middle) was mis-set for white balance, which made it turn out really blue and hazy. The B&W gives it a tad more contrast. I'll try to remember to post the un-retouched quiz photos in the future, but sometimes I frankly can't find them again so no promises.
