Worth a Read

I've linked a few times in the past to articles by Matt Taibbi, who I view as one of the best journalists out there-- mainly because he behaves like a journalist should and actually researches and reports stories based on the facts he uncovers. One consequence of that is that he's recently been pretty critical of some of Obama's decisions, especially in relation to his economic policies. This has led a number of Obama supporters to go after Taibbi, accusing him of being some kind of turncoat (since he previously was a critic of Bush too). The charge is ridiculous, and actually reminds me of a story political comedian Mort Sahl used to tell after Kennedy was elected (and Sahl had contributed some jokes for JFK's campaign speeches). When Sahl began to tell jokes with now-President Kennedy as their butt, the latter's supporters complained to Sahl, saying "We thought this was what you wanted." To which Sahl replied "You didn't have to do it for me." Anyway, Taibbi replies to some of this criticism in a blog post that can be found here. The Glenn Greenwald article that Taibbi links to is also worth a look.
