Record Shelf Playlists

Dr. John's Record Shelf is my weekly radio program on KDWG, 90.9 FM broadcast from the University of Montana Western. My goal is to offer an eclectic mix of various styles, genres and eras, focusing primarily (but not exclusively) on music that you won't hear anywhere else on the dial (at least not in SW Montana). My co-host, Art Vandelay and I (with the assistance of station flunky Rico Muckman) also provide some additional bits to liven up the show, including Three People I Know (where I mention three people I know), The Cultural Corner (where we engage in lively banter on art, literature and poetry), Dr. John's Top Five (where we take a shot at ranking almost anything), and Record Shelf Theater (where we re-create a scene from some famous movie, play or TV show). A Near Perfect Comic Strip

Maybe you saw this in the paper this morning. It is a thing of beauty: Lynn Johnston nails the kids expressions (and Farley's too), there's a clear narrative trajectory that is not obvious or predictable from panel to panel, and it's really funny. Plus, in these reprints of older strips, Michael resembles my nephew Nick and Lizzy looks like my niece Emma (if they only had a dog!). So I take back the heading-- it is perfect.

Lil' Sis said...: One of my favorite For Better or Worse comics ran on an early Sunday where the mom finds Michael feeding his broccoli to (you presume) the dog under the table. Turns out it is Elizabeth - the final panel shows the mom then trying to feed Elizabeth her vegies under the table too. Too funny for me LOL
