Here are the results of this week's Battle of the Bands competition on Dr. John's Record Shelf. In an upset, the Easybeats (seeded 11) took down Fairport Convention (6) by a 4-3 score, while Buffalo Springfield (3) beat The Move (14) 7-2.

The songs played this week were "Mr. Soul" by the Springfield, "Do Ya" by the Move, "Friday On My Mind" by the Easybeats, and "Mr. Lacey" by Fairport. So in Round 2 next Spring, This week's winners will square off against each other. They join the Free, Manfred Mann, the Rolling Stones, Mott the Hoople, The Who, Sweet, the Moody Blues, and the Tremeloes in moving into the next round.
