To this statement by the noted progressive reformer Jane Addams (1860-1935), I can only add "Hear, hear!":
"We have learned to say that the good mustbe extended to all of society before it can beheld secure by any one person or class; butwe have not yet learned to add to that state-ment, that unless all [people] and all classescontribute to a good, we cannot even be surethat it is worth having."
