Battle of the Bands Update

Led Zeppelin

Here are the results of last night's Battle of the Band mathups on Dr. John's Record Shelf. As you'll recall, we are trying to determine the greatest British group of the era 1960 to 1954. Movin on to the third round will be Led Zeppelin (seeded no. 1 in the Empire Bracket) who took care of the Zombies (8) by a close 5-4 vote, and the Small Faces (5) who knocked off the Dave Clark Five (4) by a 6-3 margin.

Small Faces

Songs in the competition this week were as follows: "D'yer Ma'ker" by Led Zeppelin; "She's Not There" by the Zombies; ""Itchycoo Park" by the Small Faces; and "Can't You See That She's Mine" by the DC5. So far, Round Three is shaping up this way: in the Empire Bracket, Led Zeppelin v. Small Faces and Jethro Tull v. the Kinks; in the Pop Bracket, Buffalo Springfield v. the Troggs; in the Mod Bracket, the Who v. the Moody Blues; and in the Teddy Boy Bracket, the Rolling Stones v. Manfred Mann.
