Battle of the Bands, Round Two

The Rolling Stones

As regular readers of this blog know, we're having some fun with a Battle of the Bands on my radio show, Dr. John's Record Shelf. The goal is to determine the top British (or Commonwealth) group from the period 1960-1974, and we recently wrapped up Round One, reducing the field from 64 to 32 bands. I've now set up the second round matchups, with songs that will represent each group, as seen below. The seedings appear after the band names. Comments are welcome on the selections, but I'm unlikely to make any changes at this point. If you'd like to cast a vote on any or all of these pairings, please feel free to do so in the comments section, and I'll add them to the tally. The actual competition will unfold through the Spring-- starting in mid-January on the program (which will be on hiatus over the holidays).

C'mon ... Bungle in the Jungle (one of Tull's worst) vs. I started a Joke (one of the BeeGee's best)?

I see strong anti-flute prejudice.

And, if you stick with the Syd stuff, then Floyd should hold seed for quite some time.
