These first two examples are from the early 1940s, while the next three are from the late 1950s. Part of the genius of Bushmiller can be found in the profound consistency that marked his work over more than four decades of output.

I know it is hard for you children to grasp, but in the l940's flying was not all that prevalent. For a college graduation present, my brother, Charles, gave me an airline ticket to fly to Cincinnati to begin my internship. I felt like a millionaire. And that was in 1948....Mom
