I finally got around to exploring the features on the Photoshop Elements software that came with my computer. These are some of the photos I've altered in one or more ways, and I think made them a bit more striking. Above is a scene from the beach in Santa Monica, on which I monkeyed around a bit with the color, heightening the contrast between the blue sky and the green tops of the palm trees.
This is a back street in Florence, which has been cropped and edited to appear more like like a painting by blurring edges and playing around with the color saturation.
I don't think I did anything to this one except to crop it a bit and render it in a brown tone (from the original color). It was taken at the Barge Canal just a bit northeast of Ellicott Creek Park.
Here's a shot of Nikolaus that has been cropped, blurred, color adjusted, and light-adjusted. Can anyone tell where this one was taken? I'm having almost as much fun playing around with the software as I did taking the pictures in the first place!

Is Nik standing by the willow tree in our back yard????Mom
Mom,
Close-- he's actually sitting in the willow tree in the back yard! That's the post for the birdhouse behind his head.
Dr. John
I just had an idea for a neat Christmas gift from you John! I love that pic of Nikolaus - how about a framed copy of it plus arty pics of Helen and Emma to go with it?
A beautiful triptych for my wall
T
ps I really enjoy all your photos, you definitely have an eye for it
Dr John,
If you do offer T the Christmas gift she requested I would suggest you definitely look into getting some great print paper, and matt the photo(s)before you frame them. The framed print of the birds on your head (that you gave me) is great but without the matt I can see the photo sticking to the glass. Just a thought here.

PS I have a matt cutter here so you can check it out when you visit for Thanksgiving.
