Apparently these soup diary entries have created the impression that I'm some sort of soup fanatic or something. So for my recent homecoming, various members of the family decided to stage what can only be called a Soup-A-Thon in my honor. This past Sunday there were six different soups prepared for my benefit, and I'm happy to report that all were quite good. In fact, I was so busy eating and refilling my bowl, that it completely slipped my mind to snap pictures of all the varieties after the first (Tomato Dumpling, by Theresa, seen above). There was Spinach Soup (Ben), Cream of Mushroom and Roasted Red Pepper (Dan), Chicken Chili (Eileen), and my mom made her famous potato soup with homemade noodles. It was a veritable soupapalooza, and all topped off with homemade strawberry shortcake. In case anyone ever wondered why I make regular trips back to the old homestead, this certainly goes some ways towards explaining why, and it's not just the soup-- it's the great company and times we have when we all get together like this. Everyone should be so lucky.
