I think Ricky Nelson gets a bum rap as a teen idol. He came by his musical genes honestly (his dad was a big band leader, his mom a vocalist) and he had great taste in picking songs and backing musicians (that's James Burton on lead guitar). Here's one of his best and biggest hits:
