Here's a classic episode of Pixie and Dixie which I remember seeing when I was a youngster (there was a real shock of recognition when I called it up on YouTube). Something that I didn't notice back then is that Dixie exhibits some of the characteristics (certainly vocally) of the character Doc Long from I Love a Mystery, Carlton Morse's wonderful golden age radio drama. I wonder if that was intentional? When I was a kid I had never heard of that program, but if you like old time radio you should definitely check it out. In the meantime, here's Pixie and Dixie:
