Friday Philosophy

One of the biggies in Greek philosophy was Aristotle of Stagira, who lived in the fourth century BC. Here's something from his work on ethics that signals the quality of his thought:

"The vulgar, like the beasts, identify happiness
with pleasure. Superior, refined, people tend to
identify it with honor and virtue. We can be certain,
though, that moneymaking is not the good, as
it is merely a means to gain other things."
