One of the true highlights of the rotation of soups served at Fab;es Cafe is the African Peanut variety that seems to pop up about one a year (or anyway, once a year when I'm actually around to try some). That happened a couple days ago and I was not disappointed. This is a hearty mix of onion, peppers, celery, rice, and peanuts in a broth that is truly heavenly, flavored very similarly to Thai peanut sauce. It's got a sweet tangyness that I don't really associate with any other kind of soup. I don't think it's the best soup available at my favorite soup place, but it may be the most singular. It really isn't like anything else-- and I'm glad I didn't miss it when it came around in the rotation this time.
