Although Dire Straits (and Mark Knopfler) went on to have a long and I assume very prosperous career, I don't think they ever matched, let alone surpassed, their very first hit. But this song is so good, it's hard to imagine virtually anyone topping it. That's my opinion anyway, see what you think:
