Samuel Adams (1722-1803) may have been the first true American revolutionary of the generation that fought for independence from England. His recipe for change is certainly implied by this quote:

"It does not take a majority to prevail...
but rather an irate, tireless minority,
keen on setting brushfires of freedom
in the minds of men."
