Today's quotation is from the famous American anthropologist Margaret Mead (1901-1978), who famously wrote about growing up in Samoa (though I don't know if that is where this particular insight occurred):
"Laughter is man's most distinctive emotional expression. Man shares the capacity for love and hate, anger and fear, loyalty and grief, with otherliving creatures. But humor, which has an intellectualas well as an emotional element, belongs to man."
